The Untethered (Audible Audio Edition) SW Southwick Fred Filbrich Roble Arrow Publishing Ink Books Reviews

Loved the characters in this novel. I still think about this book and some of the lessons on life it offered. I enjoyed how the characters connected with each other. Great story!
Mr. Southwick put together a book I just couldn't put down. If you're looking for smart-as-a-whip characters and a plot that keeps twisting and turning, give The Untethered a read. I personally love the world of fast, tough airplanes (I wanted to be a pilot when I was a kid), but even if it's not your thing, you can't help but be excited for the main character and his quest to see his dream come true.
I fell in love with the characters. I laughed with them, cried with them, worried about them and rejoiced with them.
I work as a cook on a tow boat. It was difficult to pry myself away long enough to cook meals. I suppose it was better than being at home with it, however; I would have read the entire thing at one sitting.
I thoroughly enjoyed every page. I'm a liberal at heart and rooted the entire time for the comeuppance of those who would seek to destroy "my friends "
I highly recommend this to all.
This S.W. Southwick work is a very long novel, and the first part of this book contained heavy character development, but it does so in a good way which causes you to be drawn into the stories of each character, and this can make people lose interest in the story early on, but if you enjoy the utopian cross-breed between Ayn Rand and a technological thriller, this is one of the best you'll read.
From military aeronautical engineering to Las Vegas performance art, this page-turner hooked me on page one with its rich narrative. The four intertwining storylines arc and ricochet against one another as each character struggles to overcome a different societal obstacle in the pursuit of happiness. Whether fighting against the military hierarchy, family obligations, or operating under the nose of the law, each character is at a different point on the same journey. So, while one is rising, another is falling, which I found intriguing. The philosophical premise woven throughout this joyride adds real meat to an already exciting thriller without bogging down the pace. Highly recommend if you enjoy eccentric, deeply developed characters with a bit of philosophical conflict peppered throughout the pages.
It's a long book, but the character development is excellent, the multiple plots are well intertwined, and I found it quite the page-turner. ( Margin-toucher?) It reads something like a fusion of Ayn Rand's "The Fountainhead" and "Atlas Shrugged" brought forward to the 21st century (and there are a few nods to her writings scattered through the book), but that just made it more enjoyable -- because it (IMHO) is NOT a derivative work. Some of the technology described seemed a little far-fetched until I did some research and found it's not unreasonable for the near future. So kudos to the author for not introducing anything too fantastic to disrupt the immersion experience.
I really enjoyed this book. I have never read a contemporary epic thriller before reading this book. This is a long book but seemed to go fast for me. The start is interesting but I wouldn't say exciting. The exciting parts are just that, exciting. Most of the book is character building and building to the end. One way I judge a good book is by the ending. I loved the ending and how it tied everything together, the palpable excitement, the wonder, and how a world of different people experience something wonderful together. I also found it motivational and inspired me to accomplish something or do something greater then myself.

I have never read a book like this before and I was trying to place it in category. The author says it is a contemporary epic thriller and I agree with that. I almost want to put this in the Dystonian type of literature. I wouldn't say to the level of 1984 or Fahrenheit 451 but maybe describing pre-dystonia times. Made me take a second look at the things around me, the news and how the government is treating us... I guess that is why dystonian novels are popular right now. That being said, I think this is a novel about freedom for both for individual freedom and freedom from ones internal demons. Whatever book category this book is in, it really doesn't matter to me as I would place it the category of a good book.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
